A biogas plant is a device that collects and processes various types of biomass such as farm waste and energy crops. It comprises an air-tight tank, configured to process these materials via anaerobic digestion. This process involves the microbial breakdown of the mixed feedstock to biogas. The biogas consists mostly of methane and carbon dioxide, and a digestate is also produced.
